Research Interests:
Polarization Spectroscopy: developed a method for production of aligned molecular samples and for optical spectroscopic studies of such samples, with a range of applications from cancer research to development of flat LCD screens. Author of three leading and widely quoted monographs in the field
Science and Development: in particular the role of scientific research and science education for economic development. Extensive science policy and research evaluation work in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America for several donors and development banks
