Jesper Ryberg holds a position as Professor of Ethics and Philosophy of Law at the Department of Philosophy and Science Studies. His research and teaching lie mainly within the fields of ethical theory, applied ethics, and philosophy of law.

Ryberg is the head of The Research Group for Criminal Justice Ethics and is currently addressing issues within the ethics of crime and punishment (such as: the seriousness of crimes, the severity of punishment, proportionate punishing, restorative justice, war crimes, punishment and discrimination, victim compensation, mercy, amnesty, recidivism and multiple offending).

Ryberg has authored and edited 14 books and written numerous articles. He has published in journals such as Philosophical Papers, Journal of Applied Philosophy, TheoriaRes Publica: Journal of Legal and Social Philosohy, The Philosophical Quarterly, and Ehical Theory and Moral Practice, The Journal of Ethics.

In 2011, Ryberg was awarded the Elite Research Prize of The Danish Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation ($200.000).
