My PhD project focuses on the semantics of prepositions within the framework of the OntoQuery Project.
Based on a syntactic and semantic analysis of Danish texts, I investigate possible descriptions of prepositional senses, using a combined approach of world knowledge in the form of an ontology and a generative lexicon.
Can the inherent relation(s) of a preposition be explicated using an approach that
builds on knowledge about the ontological types of the arguments, and
can the same approach be used to disambiguate prepositional senses?
